Materials

• DK weight cotton yarn in Emerald Green, Rich Red, and Metallic Gold
• 3.5 mm (E-4) crochet hook
• Yarn needle for weaving in ends

Instructions

Step 1: The Central Star (Green & Gold)

With CC1 (Green), start with a magic ring.

• Round 1: Ch 2 (does not count as st), 10 hdc into ring. Sl st to join. (10 sts)
• Round 2: Ch 1, 2 sc in each st around. Sl st to join. (20 sts)
• Round 3: *Ch 6, sc in 2nd ch from hook, hdc in next ch, dc in next, tr in next two chs. Skip 3 sts on the main circle, sl st into next st.* Repeat from * to * 5 times to form a 5-point star. Fasten off.
• Gold Outline: Join CC2 (Gold) at any tip of the star. Work surface slip stitches or simple sc along the outer edges of the star points to highlight the shape. Fasten off.

Step 2: Filling the Red Bodice Background

With MC (Red), join yarn between any two points of the star.

• Row 1: Work a series of sc, hdc, and dc stitches into the inner valleys of the star to fill the gaps, slowly building the fabric outward into a flat shield shape.
• Row 2-6: Continue working in rows around the upper and side edges of the star, increasing at the top two points to form the foundations of the bust cups and decreasing towards the underarms. Follow the chevron pattern as illustrated in the image.

Step 3: Upper Bust Chevrons & Neckline

Change colors every two rows to create the striped design framing the neckline.

• Join CC1 (Green) at the outer edge of the bodice.
• Work dc rows following the diagonal slope of the V-neck, inserting CC2 (Gold) accent rows where indicated.
• Work a final CC1 (Green) border along the entire top edge of the cups for a clean finish.

Step 4: Ribbed Waistband

With CC1 (Green), join yarn at the bottom edge of the bodice.

• Ch 11. Work sc in the BLO of each chain back to the bodice edge.
• Sl st to the next 2 sts on the bodice, turn, and work sc in the BLO back up.
• Repeat this process horizontally across the entire bottom edge of the top to create a cozy, elastic ribbed waistband.

Step 5: Scalloped Bottom Trim

With CC2 (Gold), join at the bottom-left corner of the waistband.

• Row 1: Work one row of sc across the bottom edge.
• Row 2 (Shell Stitch with MC Red): *Skip 2 sts, 5 dc in next st, skip 2 sts, sl st in next.* Repeat from * to * across. Fasten off.
• Row 3 (Gold Trim): With CC2, sl st around the edges of the red shells to create a sparkling gold outline.

Step 6: Shoulder Straps

Join CC1 (Green) at the tip of the left bust cup.

• Ch 40 (or desired length). Work 3 rows of sc back and forth.
• Add a thin stripe of MC (Red) down the center of each strap using slip stitches or single crochet.
• Securely sew the back of the straps to the back band of the crop top.
