Materials

Instructions

Step 1: The Ribbed Waistband

Using White yarn, chain 11.

Row 1: Sc in second ch from hook and in each ch across, turn. (10 sts)

Row 2: Ch 1, sc in BLO of each st across, turn. (10 sts)

Repeat Row 2 until the band is long enough to fit snugly around your lower waist/ribcage when slightly stretched (approximately 80-100 rows depending on size). Slip stitch the two ends together to form a ring. Do not fasten off.

Step 2: The Main Body

You will now work in rounds along the edge of the waistband.

Round 1 (White): Ch 1, work sc evenly around the edge of the waistband, slip stitch to first sc to join.

Rounds 2-3 (White): Ch 2 (does not count as stitch), hdc in each stitch around, join with sl st to first hdc.

Rounds 4-9 (Red): Join Red yarn. Ch 2, dc in each stitch around, join with sl st to first dc.

Rounds 10-21 (Blue): Join Blue yarn. Ch 2, dc in each stitch around, join with sl st to first dc.

Rounds 22-29 (White): Join White yarn. Ch 2, dc in each stitch around, join with sl st to first dc. Fasten off.

Step 3: Front Neckline and Armhole Shaping

Lay your top flat and mark the front half with stitch markers. Join Red yarn to the front section to begin shaping the chest area. This will be worked in flat rows.

Row 1 (Red): Ch 2, dc across the front section, leaving the back section unworked, turn.

Row 2: Ch 2, dc dec, dc in each stitch across to the last 2 stitches, dc dec, turn.

Repeat Row 2 to gradually decrease the width of the front panel until it reaches your desired neckline width. Fasten off.

Step 4: Back Panel

Join Red yarn to the back section. Work Row 1 and Row 2 of the shaping section to match the height of the front, ensuring a comfortable fit around the underarms. Fasten off.

Step 5: Neckline Border and Straps

Join White yarn at the bottom corner of the back armhole.

Work sc evenly up the side of the armhole to the top of the front panel. Chain your desired strap length (approx. 30-45 chains to reach the back panel), join to the back panel with a slip stitch, and work back down the strap with sc.

Continue working sc around the neckline and opposite armhole to complete the border and second strap. Fasten off and weave in all loose ends.

Step 6: Adding the Emblem and Text

The APF Emblem: Crochet a small flat circle starting with Blue yarn, switching to White, and ending with a Blue border. Using your yarn needle, embroider a yellow star in the center, and write “APF PARAGUAY” inside the circle using thin white/blue yarn. Sew the finished emblem securely to the center of the white stripe on the front panel.

The Text: Using White yarn and a yarn needle, carefully chain-stitch embroider the word “PARAGUAY” across the blue stripe centered below the emblem.
