Materials

• Fingering weight yarn in Peach (skin tone), Medium Blue, White, Medium Brown, and Pastel Yellow
• 2.0 mm crochet hook (or size needed to obtain tight stitches)
• Two 4mm black safety eyes
• Polyester fiberfill stuffing
• Yarn needle, embroidery needle, and scissors
• Metal keychain ring with chain and a mini star charm
• Pink embroidery thread or cosmetics blush for cheeks

Instructions

Head:

Using Peach yarn:

• Round 1: MR, 6 sc (6)
• Round 2: inc in each st around (12)
• Round 3: [sc, inc] x6 (18)
• Round 4: [2 sc, inc] x6 (24)
• Round 5: [3 sc, inc] x6 (30)
• Rounds 6-11: sc around (30)
• Insert safety eyes between rounds 8 and 9, leaving about 5 stitches apart.
• Round 12: [3 sc, dec] x6 (24)
• Round 13: [2 sc, dec] x6 (18)
• Stuff the head firmly with fiberfill.
• Round 14: [sc, dec] x6 (12)
• Round 15: dec x6 (6)
• Fasten off, weave in ends.

Hair:

Using Brown yarn:

• Round 1: MR, 6 sc (6)
• Round 2: inc in each st around (12)
• Round 3: [sc, inc] x6 (18)
• Round 4: [2 sc, inc] x6 (24)
• Round 5: [3 sc, inc] x6 (30)
• Rounds 6-8: sc around (30)
• To make bangs: [ch 3, sl st back down, sl st in next st] x3. Fasten off, leaving a tail for sewing. Sew the hairpiece onto the top of the head, positioning the bangs over the forehead.

Legs & Body:

We will alternate colors between Blue and White to create stripes.

Legs (make 2):

• Using Blue yarn: MR, 6 sc (6)
• Change to White: 6 sc (6)
• Change to Blue: 6 sc (6)
• Fasten off the first leg. Make the second leg but do not cut the yarn. ch 2 and join to the first leg.

Body:

• Round 1: sc in each of the 6 sts of the first leg, sc in the 2 chs, sc in the 6 sts of the second leg, sc in the 2 chs (16)
• Alternate colors every 2 rounds between Blue and White.
• Rounds 2-5: sc around (16)
• Stuff the legs and body firmly.
• Round 6: [2 sc, dec] x4 (12)
• Round 7: [sc, dec] x4 (8)
• Fasten off, leaving a long tail to sew the body to the head.

Arms (make 2):

• Using Peach yarn: MR, 5 sc (5)
• Change to Blue yarn: sc around for 4 rounds (5)
• Fasten off, leaving a tail for sewing.

Nightcap:

Start with White yarn:

• Round 1: MR, 4 sc (4)
• Change to Blue: [sc, inc] x2 (6)
• Change to White: [2 sc, inc] x2 (8)
• Continue alternating Blue and White stripes every round while gradually increasing by 2 sts each round until you have 30 stitches.
• Rounds 11-14: sc around (30)
• Final Round (Brim): In FLO, sc around with White yarn to create a slight fold-up effect. Fasten off.
• Create a mini pompom using White yarn and sew it firmly to the tip of the hat.

Rattle:

• Using Yellow yarn: MR, 6 sc (6)
• Round 2: inc in each st around (12)
• Round 3: sc around (12)
• Round 4: dec x6 (6)
• Change to White yarn for the handle: sc around for 3 rounds (6). Fasten off, sew to the doll’s hand.

Assembly & Finishing:

• Sew the head to the body securely.
• Sew the arms to the sides of the body at the collar level.
• Attach the nightcap to the head, tilting it slightly to the side.
• Use pink embroidery thread or powder blush to add soft circles on the cheeks just below the eyes.
• Braid a blue and white yarn cord, attach it to the keychain ring along with the star charm, and secure the chain loop through the top of the nightcap.
